roadrunnertwice: Me looking up at the camera, wearing big headphones and a striped shirt. (OMG LEAFS)
I LOVE having all these squirrels outside my window! They're great. I just saw one bootstrap herself into the tree by grabbing a handful of low-hanging leaves and swinging like five feet through the air on it, scrabbling madly upwards.

Okay, here's a fun one:

Y'all remember True Porn Clerk Tales? Ali... can't remember her last name, but anyway, she was a popular proto-blogger. Back before CMS software got ubiquitous, she'd repurposed some bulletin board 'ware into a personal blog where she talked about all sorts of stuff relating to her job as a video store clerk at some joint with a massive porn selection. Ended up adapting it into a This American Life spot? Yeah, you remember it.

Anyway, one of the posts that had nothing to do with porn was about the clerks' pasttime of Shuffle. They had this 5-disc changer hooked up to the store PA, and they played this game where one person got to pick all five discs at once and put it on shuffle. The competition was to choose the most... well, actually, it was never all that clear. "Offputting" would score you points, as would "unexpectedly appropriate" or "fuckin' hilarious." I doubt there were any formal rules. I can't remember Ali's weapon of choice, but I know it involved Aqua. ("I'm a Barbie girl? In a Barbie world?" Yeah, you remember that, too.)

ANYWAY, the point being. I know that it's 2006 now, and everyone lives out of their iTunes, but, like the proverbial Desert Island, your hand in a throwdown, winner-take-all game of Five Disc Shuffle says a lot about you. And I suspect most music fans have at least one combo that no one else in their lives could possibly be expected to tolerate.

What's yours? Get in here and fight it out, or spread it around on your own journal.
You can play fast and loose with the specificity or the number of discs; the only rule is that it has to be a shuffle you would actually listen to, but which you know better than to inflict on anyone else.

Mine? Well.

(Actually, that almost looks like it was specifically designed to kill Robert. Sorry, Robert!)
