This is a known quirk of my brain, that I de-focus when life gets crazy. (i.e. moving, or packing for a trip.) I've learned that if I have the time to spare, I may as well just let the thing wander where it will: this generally happens when the task at hand demands a lot of thought, but very little consciousness. So while the section of my brain that does what it does is doing what it's doing, my hands and feet and forebrain like to wander around. It's a good time for organizing hard disk space and folding clothes.
