Spore really does look like it could be the best game ever. My only concern is that they carefully avoided showing most of the transitions between phases, which leads me to suspect they haven't really worked those out.

Also, if you can't start over as a microbe on one of the planets you constructed on the galaxy scale, then climb back up to find yourself exploring the wreckage of your former civilization, I will be deeply disappointed.
