Yeah, it hasn't been well-publicized, but late 2005 they decided to fiddle with Daylight Savings Time. Despite the fact that there is zero evidence that DST actually saves any energy, since most people work with the electric lights on regardless of the time of day, but that's how it goes.

As for the edit... yeah. You should have heard some of the messages we got back in my student newspaper days. You think that guy was irate, try calling an assistant professor an associate professor.
