I quite like this analogy. It could also lean into company scrip as well, but I think that's partly because I can't think of how money/counterfeit works without thinking of the Ducktales episode "The Land of Trala La" (the bottlecap one, in depth summary here), and that currency is only valued as much as it has value (being: company scrip has no value outside the company town). It gets muddied but that's where my brain takes it.
