All right! One week after I started ratcheting it down, I'm off caffeine entirely. Something I'm already noticing is that it's easier to get up in the morning. So that's interesting. Also, my (always present) appetite for fruit has increased dramatically. Of course, both of those could just as easily be from the sun finally coming out yesterday. Shrug! I guess I don't really  have any idea what's up, but it's fun watching it anyway. One thing I'm missing already is the bike fuel aspect: going over the Broadway Bridge, you can definitely tell the difference between a day where you had coffee and a day you didn't.

So I'm dialing my caffeine down, again. It's been a while! I actually can't remember the last time I did this. (I guess I could probably check my LJ or something, but eh.) I plan to drink a lot less beer for the next little while, too; basically I'm just interested in seeing what happens when I lay off of drugs that affect my sleep cycle. They've been part of my routine for long enough that it's probably about time to check up on myself.

(That reminds me, I told someone a few years back that I'd write a thing about my relationship with caffeine. Well, maybe I'll come back to that this week.)

Anyway, I used to do this every summer, back when I was in school, so I ended up with a method. The main thing is to just avoid that damn headache at all costs, so it's not super complicated. What works for me is to immediately drop to one cup of black tea a day, except that it's actually one cup every slightly-longer-than-a-day. Just make sure that there's more time between each two cups than there was between the two previous cups, and I'm golden; once I hit the 48 hour mark, I can stop entirely.

It's kind of fun, in its own twisted way! Like building up the distance you can run, or something. Has that leveling-up kind of appeal.

In what I'm sure is totally unrelated news, I'm feeling rather bleary at the moment and can't remember what else I was going to talk about!
