They say we don't have accents, that we
drift over an ocean of American sound without touching it,
that we walk on water, that we sink
like an anchorman
What they really mean, though they don't know it, is that we
have kept our secrets secret
and our signals slight
And yet can smell our own, that hint
of rain on the breath, of
fir boughs and salmonberry
stems.

A revelation: Songs by female-fronted rock bands entitled "Faraway" are inevitably good.

Also, today's Narbonic is... I just... wow. That Garrity woman is somethin' else.

(Hey, by the way, did you know that the entire Narbonic archives came out from behind the subscription wall recently? You can read the whole thing for free, now. Hint: You should.)

EDIT: Also, I'm seeing some interesting stuff that I seem to have dropped in iCal a while ago. Butch Walker is playing at the Fine Line on Aug 4? Raconteurs @ First Ave on the 3rd? Huh.

Just bought plane tickets back to the Northwest. I'll be in "town" from morning on Tuesday the 8th until evening on Monday the 14th.
