The Post-Rapture Post: Holy CROW do I wish I'd thought of this. It's the book-perfect scam: The only way for your mark to not feel like they've gotten an incredible deal is for them to subsequently abandon their entire belief system. Failing that, they'll go to their graves thankful for having been culled by these chaps.

P.S. Also, this woman on the bus saw that I was reading Some Book and told me that I should look into this series called Left Behind, they're really good! And I wasn't sure whether to be offended, or feel bad for her, or get all cynical about the fate of humanity, or what. So I'm obviously some kind of asshole, but I don't seem to have decided what kind quite yet. Definitely not the public kind, since I just mumbled something noncommittal and called it a day.

That's one of the most brilliant things I've ever heard.

This is one of the better lines I've heard in a while.

Ah, life.

I really, really wish I'd thought of that first. It's genius!

As for Left Behind, I read the first one, because I'm a huge fan of apocalypses and disaster novels, and it was awful. I mean, just really, really crappily written: clunky phrasing, flat characters, listless dialogue, that sort of thing. Avoid it.
