Well, it's a Square game that isn't a port of a SNES or NES classic. It's almost certainly not worth getting excited about. When's the last time they made anything both new and good? Vagrant Story?

I'm with Froborr. I got fucking excited about Legend of Mana. It was a new mana game! I made email addresses and AIM names based on its characters! Then I got the game. Last time I make that mistake.

In the interest of full disclosure though, well... the icon says it all I suppose.

No. Nothing from Chrono Cross except "composer" is worth anything.

Actually, that's too much respect for one sentence. The game bit ass. It was everything that sucks about post-SNES Square: pomposity, incoherence, clunky second-thought game mechanics, attempts to pass pulp fantasy/sf tropes off as Deep Thought, and a cast of characters who were (with maybe one or two exceptions) all deeply obnoxious.

"I've got an idea! How about every freaking named NPC in the world joins your party!"
"But how will we establish characterization?"
"Who needs that? Just give them annoying accents and speech impediments, and it's just like they're different people!"

Awesome soundtrack, though.

And yes, I did post this entirely out of annoyance that I used "respect" twice in one sentence.

Technically, it'd be Secret of Mana 2, and Seiken Densetsu 4, because of the name differences between Japan and the US. But it won't be called SoM 2. I think I read somewhere recently that they're branding it Final Fantasy: [something]. Bleuuugh.

Umm... Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, Legend of Mana... I count this as Seiken Densetsu 5.

I was going to do the same, but then I looked it up and it seems they're calling it SD4. I guess LoM was never officially "4?" I don't know. I'm lost. And scared. If people were confused by the earlier US v. Japanese Final Fantasy numbering discrepancies, this is going to be a lot worse.

Where does Sword of Mana fit in then? GBA, terrible, but still based in the series. As far as the new game, meh, I'll try it. Square can only piss me off if I get silly enough to buy the game without tesing it first.
