Date: 2008-05-30 06:19 am (UTC)In a stiff wind, hanging fuchsia baskets will rotate back and forth within the limited range their moorings allow them. (Call it 60° or so.) The variety of hook materials present (plastic on metal, metal on metal, plastic on rubber, etc.) will dictate the harmonic content of the creaking noises. It will take you a while to notice what's causing the noise, or even that it's a noise in the first place rather than some more subtle psychic or sensory effect. This indistinctness will be enhanced by the rushing sound of new leaves sweeping against each other in the river of air. Strange smells will accompany this phenomenon. Hang horseshoes and do not eat or drink without promise of safe passage. Keep your banisters clean. Don't go into the high mountains.
