OK: we've moved into our new house.

Or more accurately, we've moved OUT of our old house. The new place is a maze of boxes, and every non-box surface is covered in loose objects. BUT NEVER MIND THAT, we're living in our new house! And it's OUR house, not some landlord's house! Well, I guess a significant fraction of it is actually the bank's house. BUT NEVER MIND THAT. 😅

As for the move itself, we lucked out in many ways at once. First off, we were moving across the street, so there's THAT. Then we had beautiful weather for the entire move; it's looking like rain for the whole coming week, and we somehow totally missed it.

We had some friends helping us (including Ruth's mom, who rescued the bathrooms from post-painting squalor while we schlepped stuff), but we also hired some movers to get all the heavy and awkward furniture down (and up) the stairs. Which was an excellent move. This was Ruth's idea to begin with, and she found an agency that charges by the hour and just sends over a pair of college boys (who, by the way, outperformed the "professional" couch deliverers by getting our couch down [and up] the stairs without gouging any walls). I've never hired movers before, due to a: money and b: trust issues, but wow it was great to hire people who are just really good at controlling and rotating Bullshit Objects.

And now that furniture is all piled in our bedroom, because we still need to install flooring in the office (and the landing). So that's what's next. Oh, and we scheduled a dude to refinish the downstairs floors at the end of November, so we'll have to move all THAT furniture two more times and probably stay at a friend's house for a few days.

Still tho. Never mind all that. We made our deadline, we moved in, the house is ours.

There's been some photos of the everything over on my instagram; IDK if I have the patience to do an old-school narrative roundup of all the work, and who the hell has time to read one of those these days anyway. But maybe I'll try and do some smaller image posts at some point.
