Date: 2008-09-29 04:21 am (UTC)Yes! If by depressing they mean hilarious. I watched the interview with my Mom and I watched SNL with my Dad and he didn't believe me when I was laughing and saying it was almost word for word. But I really wished Sarah Palin had actually asked for a lifeline.
...A lot of the people commenting in that link are saying Tina Fey might be a republican? I don't believe that. During Weekend Update she always talked about the stories that dealt with womens issues, and wikipedia calls her an "environmentalist" for driving a hybrid and recycling (not the most convincing piece of evidence, I know). And imdb has the quote:
On the idea of future Sarah Palin SNL skits: "I want to be done playing this lady Nov. 5. So, if anybody can help me be done playing this lady Nov. 5, that would be good for me."
Which makes me think the only thing that could possibly mean is she wants Obama to win. If she is a republican, she is a very bad one. But her character on 30 rock is hilarious. She is kind of a bad person who doesn't want to be, but always gives in to fear impulses and ends up lying to her boss about ratting him out to the press, turning in her "suspicious" neighbor for being a terrorist when he was really being secretive about filming an audition for the amazing race (one of my most favorite episodes) and just being...I don't know, an overworked, underpaid average person? I think that's the real point to her character there. I think the real Tina Fey knows that life is hard and people sometimes take easy ways out because they are too busy to make great moral choices.
I would be personally disappointed if I found out she was a republican.

Date: 2008-09-29 04:50 am (UTC)The problem is that there's no good easy way for a program to tell which tracks are the same as which. You can check the tag data to find exact matches (artist+album+track+year+whatever else), but if anything is the slightest bit cattywompus, the only way to tell is by listening to it, and that kind of shit quickly leads to the really advanced areas of AI research.
But iTunes can at least check the tag data and tell you what it found. The first trick is to go to the file menu and choose "Show Duplicates." This narrows the visible tracks to ones that have the same name as other tracks by the same artist, but it doesn't pay attention to the album. It's a start, though, and you can do things like sort by album, right-click the column headers to add more track information to the view, and search within the set of duplicates to make things a little easier on yourself.
Good luck, basically.

Date: 2008-09-29 05:04 am (UTC)I don't really understand how iTunes works in regards to its own music folder. It created one, inside my music folder, next to the one that I made before, the one that I ripped all my cds to. It looks exactly the same. Do I have mass duplicates because I am supposed to delete my music files after iTunes backs them up in its own folder? Is that what that separate folder is for?
